Cutting value:
Cutting value is defined as the percentage of usable area i.e. the area of leather which is free of any defect.- Cutting value, CV= 100- % defective area.
- % defective area= total defective area/ area of leather × 100
- Cutting value is calculated as a percentage.
- On a 1st grade, an allowance of up to 3% defective area i.e., waste is added.
- If these waste is not allow for some defects, very few leather would ever be classed as 1st grade.
- The grade after 1st grade, all vary by 5%.
What are the Environmental factors of cutting room?
Good working conditions will help:
- To improve quality
- To increase productivity
- To attain output target
- Natural lighting is best, next to north- facing window.
- Use good general lighting with individual lights just above the cutting stage.
- Cool or north light fluorescent tubes are suitable
- Light level should be at least 1200-1500 on the cutting room
- An ideal working temperature is 25 degree celceius
- Adequate ventilation.
- Maintain the standard humidity of 65 percent.
- Adequate storage space for material, knives and Cut components.
- Material and knife storage areas should be kept tidy to maintain time spent sorting these items.
- Locate store and knife area close to cutters to reduce walking distances.
- Always maintain good house keeping.
