Initially developed by SATRA in the early 1980's. This system continues to be developed. SATRA Summ has replaced SLM as an industry standard system for material allowance calculation. It uses similar pattern and leather assessment techniques to SLM but is modified in areas system had proved weak. The calculations are done by computer and patterns are interlocked on a VDU screen attached to a computer. The leather assessment module of the program is sophisticated and allows accurate % to be applied to the pattern area measurements. When assessment of both pattern and leather is compete, calculations can be made very quickly by the computer.
Further developments has been made in the following areas:
- Links to SATRA data allowing accurate time allowance and labour cost predictions to be made quickly and easily. This is used for piece work payment system.
- Links to major CAD-CAM system allowing fast transfer of pattern shape and subsequent assessment.
- Automatic acceptance of cutting ticket information from exterior computer enabling immediate production of cutting ticket on daily or weekly basis.
- Transference of predicted and accurate material usage to ASCII files to allow exterior stock control systems to be updated quickly and accurately.
It is the only complete material control system available as a single package and is the most accurate material allowance calculation system for both synthetic and leather.
