Pattern Engineering: Pattern Engineering can be defined as a process by which pattern are developed to produce a product in a convenient way with maximum productivity at minimum cost.

Basic work flow for pattern Engineering on a CAD system:

  1. Prepare the digitizing layout
  2. Digitizing the style.
  3. Check digitize file for errors.
  4. Translate the digitized file to a graphics.
  5. Store the file on hard disk.
  6. Plot the basic pattern for evaluation of digitizing.
  7. Edit or add digitized lines, if necessary.
  8. Add offset lines for different allowance.
  9. Define piece boundary, add fillets and notches.
  10. Add different lines for drills and stencils.
  11. Generate pattern assessment for all or selected pieces.
  12. Define grade specifications.
  13. Grade the style either normally or apply modifiers for non standard grading.
  14. Check the graded style using stack and measure function.
  15. Generate a CUT file for cutting of pattern.
