Pattern
Pattern is a flat representation of a 3D object into 2D form. Pattern is made by thick paper or paper board.
Mean Form: It is the average of outside and inside part of a last.
Standard Pattern: When the mean form includes all style lines according to the shoe style and lasting allowance, it is called standard pattern. Example Derby standard, Oxford standard etc.
Sectional pattern; Every individual part of a standard is separated with required allowances and called sectional pattern. Example - Vamp pattern, Quarter pattern etc.
Grading: The technique of producing multi sizes patterns from model size. Example - from model size 7, 5, 6, 8, 9 sizes are developed.
Tooling Up: The process of making the cutting knives by using graded patterns.
For making prefect fitting Toe area, Back curve and Feather edge should be modified.
